Theia

Wall Art

Species -- Cherry

Finish -- Rubio Monocoat Pure

Description -- Theia is a lamp that shows the current phase of the moon. Behind the fabric diffuser, 241 LEDs form a glowing disk that matches tonight's moon exactly: crescent, gibbous, quarter, full. The dark side holds a faint blue earthshine glow. No screen. No buttons. It syncs to network time and keeps itself current.

The frame is cherry, and the diffuser is soft fabric stretched over a PLA inner ring. The electronics are custom-wired. The lunar math runs on a microcontroller tucked out of sight, calculating the moon's position from astronomical first principles, accurate to within minutes for any date.

Currently NFS. (But coming soon.)
